If it is an automatic Honda recommends you only use their own brand fluid, the same may apply for a standard transmission. You can't go wrong if you buy the fluid from a Honda dealer.
you did not state the type of transmission that you have, assuming that it is an automatic transmission.
the transmission used in the Passport models is an Isuzu transmission, so it requires inexpensive and easily available Dexron/Mercon fluid. not special Honda ZF fluid that all other Honda transmissions require. another person said that they use Dexron3 fluid in theirs.
the capacity for the automatic trans. 2 & 4 wheel drive are 9.1 US quarts.
automatic or standard? Automatics have a dipstick, you use a funnel and pour it in through the dipstick tube, Standards have a bolt on the transmission you need to take out and fill it up till it can hold no more
Hello skippy48067: My name is Roger and I will help you. You did not say if you have a automatic transmission of a standard so here are the specs on both. For the automatic the fluid type is (atf sp 111) and holds 6.2 qt. For the standard transmission the fluid type is (gl4 or gl5 80-90) and it holds 2.96 qt. If you have the standard transmission ? Be sure you use the correct fluid. If you do not use the correct type of 80-90 weight oil you will ruin the transmission. Should you need further help please just ask. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger
1. regular anti-freeze with 50/50 water mix for coolant
2. oil is 10W-30 regular or synthetic
3. brake fluid: DOT 3 OR 4 4. automatic transmission fluid: ATF+4

7. power steering: standard power steering fluid.
Go to any auto parts store auto zone O'Rielys Auto parts whatever tell them the kind of car and the type of engion wheather automatic or standard trans they will tell you the right kind of transmission fluid to use
you are wrong darcblod,in a 98 model chev.cav.the 2.2 engine is an automatic that was not made with a dipstick.it has instead a "check valve" there is a plug on the side ..remove it and pour your tranny fluid into the "fill" hole until the fluid just barely runs out of the "plug hole" ,replace both the fill cap and check valve plug and you'll be fine...it is important that your car is level and at operating temp......fyi some of the newer fords are like that too.
