I have a 1999 town car the driver side rug is always wet after it rains have had 2 windshiedls put in and checked all drains and can,t feel anything above it wet even when the car has not been moved any ideas?
Get a water hose, get in vehicle shut doors, have someone run water on the driver side and see if you can see where it's coming from and follow it,also pop hood and see if water is going through there. One of thing is the heater core, could be leaking, check your coolant level,if good, then no leak there.

I have the same problem in my 2001 towncar. I removed the switch control panel (without removing the door panel) by prying up from the front of the panel. There's a spring loaded plug under the mirror adjustment. Once you get that pulled up, the whole unit will lift out. Since there's a two year difference in the models - it MAY not work... however, you might not have to remove the whole door panel as you think.
In my case, the wiring was bad.

Look at the swith on the brake pedal, it shoud have two green wires on it. Make sure it is not melted or the wire is broken. If it is damaged you can connect the 2 wires together to get it into gear, but this should be temporary as it bypasses the neutral safety switch.

I had the same problem in my Lincoln Town Car about a year or so ago. Here is what the problem was. There are a couple of air ducts at the back of your hood (top of firewall just below the base of your windshield wipers anchor points) These ducts are located one on the driver and one on the passenger side. Each of them has a little gate at the opening. The gates on my car were clogged with leaves and debris, thus causing water to flow over the ducts into the passenger compartment of the car. These ducts must be cleaned out so the water can flow through them and down to the ground instead of overflowing due to clogging.

yes the teft light will stop the vehicle from running. that is the pats system and can cause all sorts of trouble. if the light flashes fast its not reading the key. no start. if it turns on for two seconds and shuts off the it should start
