Why bother buying something with a problem?
Get the owner to take it with you to a transmission shop and get their take on it and potential cost. Then get that knocked off the price if you really really want to buy it. My advice is that there are thousands out there, why buy a dog?

Testimonial: "Well, they are asking $800 for it. I figure if the repair isn't too expensive it could be worth the buy."

The transmission is probably staying in 2nd gear (limp mode) indicating an electronic issue. Your van will have a 4L60-E transmission

Brake line replacing cost

Under $50 depending on how you do it. Just don't use compression fittings. The are fine for fuel and other systems, but they are NOT approved for use on hydralic brake systems

How much does it cost to rebuild a 97 GMC Jimmy transmission?

Tranny repairs are labor intensive and require special facilities so it is not going to be cheap. After you get a few estimates you have to consider the overall condition of the truck and decide whether the repair expense is cost effective. So if the rest of the truck or motor is in bad shape you just might want to think twice about making the investment and consider shopping instead.

My friend needs help getting a touqe conveter off of a 2002 gmc safaria awd van.how do u get off

The best thing to do is go to any Advance or Auto Zone and buy the Chilton Repair book for this vehicle and it will have step by step instuctions for any repairs that you may need. It also has pictures too. They cost around 19.99 but this book is the best for any repairs that you may ever have. Hope this helps.
