SOURCE: Key wont turn

no it sounds like the ignition clinder is broken or worn down inside either that or maybe the key itself. get a new key made (local hardware store) and try that one if that doesnt work im afraid that you may need a new key and tumbler

SOURCE: key wont turn ignition. ignition

see if you can get the lock out. If you can, you'll be able to turn the switch with a screwdriver. If needed, you can drill another hole in the cylinder where you think the locking tab would be, then push the tab with an allen wrench.

  1. Remove the hush and knee bolster.
  2. Remove the steering column trim covers.
  3. With the key installed, turn the key to the RUN position.
  4. Install an Allen wrench into the hole on top of the lock cylinder housing. Push down on the Allen wrench to release the tab on the lock cylinder inside the lock cylinder housing.
  5. Slide the lock cylinder out of the lock cylinder housing.

My brand new key wont turn the ignition.

Go to the dealer any GM dealer, give them the VIN number and they will cut you a key to that vehicle. If the ignition has been replaced with one different to the OEM, you may have to replace the whole ignition switch.

Your ignition takes a specific key, they are chipped. If the ignition was changed and the decoder wasn't , this is the problem. You may be able to call a dealer ship and give the VIN number and get the measurement in ohms of the chip, Maybe. Then go to a hard ware store and they can duplicate the key you have with a chip key. Be prepared , this is not a $2.00 key

Key wont turn in my 98 cherokee classic.

Make sure the shifter is in park. maybe, push up on it while you turn the key. If that don't work, your ignition is broke. There is no way around it. You willhave to change your ignition switch and lock cylinder. Sorry.

Bmw 740 il key broke in half at remote part car

Yes it is, but just having the key near the ignition is enough to start the car. If you can turn the ignition with the broken key, hold the broken part in your hand and see if it will start. Hopefully the chip isn't damaged. I know that when GM keys are replaced, they glue the old key under the dash to make it work. Hope this helps.
