Question about 1998 Dodge Caravan
SOURCE: 98 dodge caravan problems
I had the same issue with my dodge caravan and after several attempts by the dealer to fix it, it turned out to be a broken wire. They replaced the relay and it would work for a while and then go blank again. Have the wires checked thoroughly.

I would check the iac(idle air control valve) first it controls the idle, and then if it is still acting up you may have to change the crank/cam position sensor

For the 2.8L there is no sequence. Torque for the bolts are 105 in.lbs.
For the 3.0L torque is 50 in.lbs. in sequence:
For the 3.3L and the 3.8L, no sequence but torque each bolt to 105 in.lbs.

This is very similar to a problem my sister had with her 1998 Caravan. She found that you need to remove the instrument pod and resolder the connector on the circuit board. Due to cracks, the thing will sometimes not have a good connection, causing the trouble. Mine just developed this problem too, so remedying it myself.
Go to this link for more info and a helpful disassembly PDF.
If it doesn't work, search for 1998_chrysler_pod_repair and you should find the PDF. I hope this helps! It's really much easier to take apart than you'd think.
