I replaced a clutch in in 98 Frontier there is what appears to be a vacuum line with a hook on it. Where does it go and what does it do?

some high pitch whistles can be from the brushes of the alternator needing attention
it may be from failing idler pulley bearings
check for vacuum leaks at hose connections

check ujoints. may be dard to move ujoints. it may look of, but you need to feel them for stiffness.

its there you have to look for it with a mirror and a light the nipple that connects the vacuum is just under a bolt to the right of the abs wich barely sticks out of the finder

Sounds like a throwout bearing is dry.

Hook up a fuel pressure guage to see if its holding during start cycle

Just apply some ENGINE DEGREASER on the belts and pulleys, rinse them with plain water, making sure the electrical components don't get wet. That will take care of your problem.

Auto zones computer **** not trying to be rude but Im not to fond of there $99 diag tool. Anyways have you tried the dealer, to see if maybe your light may just be a computer glitch or doubtly a maint. light going on and off. Its to bad its not reading it as a hard code. but you could go buy a repaire book and see if it can tell you how to use the OBD II to make the codes flash when the light is on. just a thought for you.

the clutch throw out bearing is bad.Have to drop tranny to change.
