Get infiniti qx4 out 4lo

Had a problem with 4lo. It worked in all other drive configurations, except when I switched it to 4lo. It worked in 4lo, if I put it in 4lo, turned the car off, then turned it on, but wouldn't switch out of it. The solution; change the 20amp fuse under the dash. All works perfectly now.

SOURCE: The gauges have stopped working ? Fuse under dash seems to be OK ?

Behind the dash is what they call a constant voltage regulator. It controls the guages. It's small and located behind the dash near speedo.

SOURCE: Automobile electrical problem

I hate to say it but GM "W" bodies of that time period ( Regal, Cutlass Supreme, Lumina, and Grand Prix) are notorious for turn signal problems. I'm a machanic and also have owned 3 W body vehicles. The pivot bushing in the switch wears prematurely and in turn causes the copper contacts to barely touch each other. If the contacts are dirty, there is resistance. Where there is resistance, there is heat, hence the smoke. It's just a poor design. What I do instead of replacing the switch requires some time and some surgical skill but it always works for me. At the pivot end of the switch, I remove the screw and remove the metal tube insert. I wrap the metal with electrical tape to take up the slack from the wear then grease the heck out of it. At the contact end I attach a piece of sheet metal to the bottom of the movable part of the switch so it sits underneath the non-moveable part making it so the moveable part can't lift up and lose contact. That's just a vague description but if you want a detailed one let me know and I'll write one. I did it to my '89 Regal 4 yrs. ago and to my wife's Grand Prix 1 yr. ago and they both still work great. Just a design flaw in the switch. Sometimes you have to pick up wher the car companies left off! beest921

I have a 95 infiniti j30 and it wont start...battery,cables,terminal..starter/ignition all good...it runs perfect...except 4 1 problem...itll sumtimes not crank..everything works..it just wont...

Hello! intermittent faults are difficult to locate but I'll narrow it down to three possibilities: #1 bad ignition Switch...#2 Bad Starter relay...And #3 bad Shift Range Selector Switch...Lets eliminate...Next time it happens shift into Neutral and see if it starts...If that doesn't make a difference...Switch the Starter Relay with the Defogger relay (they are the same relay) and see if the problem of starting is solved...Location of starter relay...It's located in the fuse box, directly in front of the passenger side strut tower next to the Battery.. You'll see a row of relays that are the same size. (four across). It is the second relay from the left...And Blue in color...Just to its left is the Defogger relay (Blue)...If none of the above move or solve the fault I suggest replacing the ignition switch...See photo below...Guru...saailer

Have a look at the dashboard lights dimmer switch. That switch, losing contact momentarily while the lights are on, will cause the lights to flicker.

Probably a bad Body Control Module. Find out which switch (which door switch [LF door, LR door, RF door or RR door switch]) causes that to happen to help narrow down a wiring issue.
