I have a 06 GMC 2500hd duramax, my service air bag came on the other day and shortly after that the red light came on the dash for the air bag and my power to the rearview mirror went out, the fuse under the hood was blown for the air bag and when I changed it it blew again right away. Any idea's of what it could be?
A direct short to ground on that circuit is the cause .Do you know how to use a wiring diagram and a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter to test electrical circuit's ? Their are special tools for locating automotive electrical shorts . some are inexpensive an some not . Do you want to spend money on such tools ? You would probably be better off just taking to a qualified repair shop an have it diagnosed for an hour labor charge ,could be less too . If you want to try an trace it out yourself here are video's on electrical circuits etc...

An then here is a web site for free wiring diagrams . http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info. Year , make , model and engine size . Under system click on Restraints then under subsystem click on air bags . Click the search button then the blue link .Looking at the wiring diagram see everything that fuse power's , The restraints I/P module disable switch , the sensing an diagnostic module , an then it branches off B&C . B is to the inside review mirror , C goes to the front passenger presence system module . Find the connectors to these an disconnect them one at a time till the fuse doesn't blow .
You need to have the airbag serviced! Sounds like a short circuit

check again the fuel pump. check the resistance if too low. or unplug the pump and put a fuse again, if the fuse will not blow, then the pump went bad again.

just fixed this problem, change your fuel pump module, fuel sending unit shorts out on fuel level swing arm blue wire... unfortinately you must replace it as unit because of the design, fuel pump and tank guage fuel level sending unit are a one peice item, fuel tank has to come out to change unit, about a $ 700.00 repair too... fuel pump module runs about 350 to 700 $ depending on aftermarket or factory, try to find one with a lifetime warranty even if it is $ 50.00 more worth it..labor is about $ 250 to $ 400 depending on shop labor rate... definate problem though I ahve no doubt, common problem on GM... please rate my help, thanks...
