I have a 1995 C280 that very intermittently cuts out or seems to "miss" while driving. If you stop and restart the engine it seems to work fine again. Not sure where to start looking.
When was the last time you changed your fuel pump? before you do this check to see if you have a fuel pump relay and swap it with the a/c relay or any other similar relay in the relay box. since your car is a little older you maybe able to hear the pump when you turn the ignition on for a second or two. while the line gets pressurized. It the pump sounds like it is stopping on you either from relay failer or pump failer

It can happen at any speed like 20 - 30 mph driving around town or 60 on the freeway. It seems electrical like you flipped a switch or something. Plus, if you shut off and immediately restart the engine it works fine again.
It happens so intermittently that it will be hard to track down but thanks for the help.
I have the same problem on my 95 C280. It just starts to cut out like it has dropped 2 of the 6 cylinders, it will stay that way until you restart the car then it works fine again. Must be something in the ignition system that resets when restarted.
can you go over 45 miles an hour? or does it seem like its starving for gas
