I am having an intermittent starting problem. The car will not turn over at all, then if I disconnect the battery for a while, normally it will crank over. Does not appear to be any rhyme or reason as to why it will not turn over. All the lights come on and it appears to be ready to. Put a voltmeter on the battery and there is no draw at all when the key is turned on during the problem. Many post allude to a ground problem

I would agree, try connecting a jumper lead from the battery earth terminal to a suitable earth connection on the engine when the problem arises, if the engine then starts it will confirm the cause of your fault

make sure to check your fuses and ground wires first. when you are set on which part is bad do a quick check of everything else before you jump into it.

check to make sure yu have 12v at the battery, once you do turn the ignition to start, if nothing, check the fuse and relays that control ignition, if all is good then the click sound is coming from the starter, have the solenoid replace.

2006 Impala Battery drains while car is running. Battery has been tested, alternator has been replaced. Connections to battery, alternator, aux power have been checked. Happens intermittently, sometimes...

drive belt tension
have the voltage regulator checked /replaced
if it is faulty the battery will drain as it is running all of the electronics without help from a alternator
AS the ecm draws a lot of current, a battery not charging will not last long
most modern cars run about 85% of the alternator with the rest for charging the battery
if the voltage regulator is part of the ECM, replace the ecm unit

I have a 2005 Suzuki Reno. We replaced the battery this morning which reset the sensors. We have driven the car approximately 72 miles today to try and get the sensors to work so that it will pass...

What two sensors? When a battery is disconnected and replaced, the car needs to start and stay at idle for about 20 minutes to relearn the timing etc...only then should it be taken for another 20 minutes of normal driving on road and highway at normal speeds...this should fix the issues. Start by disconnecting and reconnect the battery leads...turn to start position without starting...leave 2minutes, turn off..wait, turn on and fully start.... leave idling awhile as above...

Sometimes car will start normal but other times when I turn the key it is totally dead. I have changed the battery but still same problem. Any ideas?

Sounds like a bad starter motor or a faulty / intermittent Earth connection.
Try tapping the starter with a hammer or tyre lever while the starter is operated. If it works then it means that the brushes in the starter are worn out or the solenoid is not making proper contact to switch the high current required. Auto electricians will usually have exchange units available for replacement.

Also check all the battery power and earth leads where they connect to the Battery Terminals, Engine, Starter Motor and Body. If possible disconnect, clean thoroughly by removing any corrosion or paint that could cause a poor connection, and reconnect making sure all are tight.

Sounds like an intermittent Earth connection. Check all the battery earth leads where they connect to the Battery, Engine and Body. If possible, disconnect, clean and reconnect.

Intermittent starting

the starter selenoid is most like bad or you could have a short in the wire to your starter causing heat to build. Heat causes battery to not be able to turn the cars engine. waiting lets the resistance to disapear. and the cycle continues

2006 PT cruiser dies intermittently---batery light dies no wiper

Sounds as if the alternator is not charging the battery. Check the alternator for voltage it should put out around 13 volts at idle and normal operation. If it charges then the battery is defective. A good place to start is clean the battery cables to remove any corrosion and make good contact. Many an electrical problem has been solved by cleaning battery cables.
