Timing diagram for 1999 ford contour 2.0

The timing is set by the ECU (Engine Control Unit), the computer that controls and monitors several engine and drivetrain functions. Timing is not adjustable without specialized equipment. If the engine is running rough like it's out of time, you might check to make sure the cam timing belt (on 4-cylinder engines) hasn't slipped a tooth. If the belt hasn't been replaced in a long time, it's probably a good idea to do so.

2000 Ford Escort zx2 runs rough and stalls in reverse

The Ford Escort ZX2, the 2.0 liter is a interference engine,The valve and the piston kissed each other as they met with a broken timing belt,Just to let you know a cam position sensor does not create rough idle, it can stall the engine at a stop sign, but the solution is a valve job, and who ever put the timing belt on after the job should have done a cylinder effeciency test.

1999 Ford Contour. 2.0L engine. I'm trying to bypass a/c compressor because it is eating up clutches. I'm buying serpentine belts for engines w/o ac but they do not fit(too long). I've checked...

At Auto Zone, ask for part number 34223. It is a bypass pulley that you can replace the a/c compressor with so you can use the original belt without issue.

I have a 99 ford contour, my check engine light came on and ran the code p0102 which is the MAF sensor. I replaced the MAF and my car still runs horrible (idles rough and wants to stall around 10% idle)....

Your new MAFS is not plug and play... you must clear all learnt data / fuel trim from ECU

Here is how:

Disconnect battery on + side, hold the + lead to earth (body, engine or chassis) this diffuses the system. Leave disconnected for 10 minutes, reconnect, start car and take on a 12 mile minimum drive (this is know as a drive cycle) pull over safely, switch off engine (new data now stores in ECU), start engine and happy motoring :o)

Replacing timing belt on a 1999 ford contour 2.0

moz-screenshot-6.jpgCAUTION The 2.0L engine is an interference motor. Extending thereplacement interval could lead to the belt breaking and severe andcostly engine damage. Care must be taken if rotating the crankshaft orcamshafts with the belt off, if resistance is felt, do not force themto turn.

Engine runs rough at certain speeds 3.0 v6 flex-fuel 1999 ranger

Check and see if the EGR valve is leaking, to check this spray water on it at idle, if the water steams off the valve is leaking and is the source of your problem, also are you sure you hooked the new DPFE sensor up right? re-check it..
