Engine light came on and dealer said it was time for an oil change. My daughter had the oil changed about 100 miles from home, but engine light is on and blinking. Mechanic told her that the engine need servicing and to drive it slowly to the dealership? True or false

False When the engine light came on it is telling you that there is a serious problem occurring in the engine management system or CPU. The correct procedure is to run the fault codes to find out the faulty sensor/servo. Check coolant level at the radiator cap. Fix any faults and then have a code reader used to reset the engine light

SOURCE: Engine warning light and engine vibration 2002 VW Passat

The flashing is telling you that the engine is mis-firing, the dealer will run a test to determine the cylinder that is mis-firing, chances are it is something simple

SOURCE: i drive a vw jetta

Guys, what you are experiencing is the car built warning system. When your engine light blinks it indicates a Major Problem has occurred or is occurring in the engine. When this occurs the cars goes into a "safe," mode which means all power is cut by at least half in an effort to save the car from more major damage. You can take your VW to any large chain autoparts store (autozone, advance, etc) a lot of them are offering a free engine diagnosis. Do this if possible to see where the problems maybe coming from and ways to fix them.

SOURCE: 2003 VW Passat "Oil Press, Turn Off Engine" and "STOP" Light

I would check the oil pressure sensor and the oil pump itself. You can take the sensor out and use a mechanical gauge to check the oil pressure. If the oil pressure is within specs, you need a new sensor, if not, you need a new pump.

SOURCE: 2006 vw jetta tdi service engine light reset

With the key in the ignition (but not turned), press and hold the Odometer Reset Button on the right hand side of the panel. While still holding that button, turn the key (although not far enough to start the engine) and then press and hold the Minute button on the left side of the instrument pane(if pressing doesnt work try turning the knob clockwise until service light has gone off and skip the pressing)l. Release both buttons at the same time.

SOURCE: 2008 infiniti g37 motor is knocking has 16500 miles on it.

Please change the oil now at the Nissan garage and watch the vehicle closely.

$100 is not so much like getting your car totally knocked.

Good luck and rate this solution/ suggestion.

I have a 2008 volkswagen jetta that has 9500 miles on it. this morning there is a yellow light on that resembles an engine? I think it is suppose to be an outline of an engine

Engine trouble or service light. Could just be wanting an oil change, maybe something more. Is it running OK? Check owners manual for details about the light. You are probably still under warranty anyway, check with VW dealer. It may not cost you anything to fix.

2004 Jetta: my check engine light is on in my car im not sure ...

VW's somehow got around disclosing what the check engine lite codes mean to anyone except a VW Dealer. Therefore, to eliminate another service charge from a local repair shop I recommend you take the vehicle to VW and have them scan the vehicle's ECU for codes and do the repair accordingly.

Oil light is on and flashing but has oil in the engine. i just bought the 94 vw jetta gl from the auction and dont know to much about cars . also the reverse light is out and the left brake light is out ....

if the oil light is flashing but there is oil in the engine then it is probably the oil pressure that is the problem, you need to attatch a oil pressure guage and find out what the pressure needs to be

2003 VW Jetta TDI Check Engine Light Issue

Try disconnecting the battery (unhook on of the terminals) wait for like 15 mins, hook the terminal once again and start the car. I also own a 2003 Jetta and once my engine light would come on after 2 mins of driving. Disconnecting the battery is like resetting the computer and hopefully the sensor.

Oil sensor buzer/light will not shut off 96 cabiro VW

I am not certain, but, most vw's have 2 oil pressure sensors. One is on the head, one down near the oil filter. Maybe the other one is bad..Auto zone or NAPA could tell you if yours has two (2)..

My daughter's '87 jetta DID HAVE the oil pump fail (at ++200,000 miles), it was easy to change, about $150 and 2 hrs and a pair of ramps. Had the oil pump out and in my hand in about 40 minutes.

Sounds like you could just have electrical gremlins under the dash. Have someone (or you) actually put a pressure guage on the oil pressure connection to look for pressure, don't burn up your engine.

Oil light on 99' Jetta TDI

Hi,
The "oil light" is actually a "low oil pressure" light, and not a "low oil level" light. I would get it checked out at a garage asap.
Did they change the filter at the same time? D
