AC is cold, then hot..

2000 GMC Sierra..the AC works when truck is cool and it will work all day until you switch the temp dial to warm, it will go warm, but will not go back to cold until the truck cools off again. And it will blow warm air even when the fan is off.

You need the tempature blend door motor. My 01 silverado had this issue about 1 1/2 years before i was tired of messing with it they are not hard to replace. The cover (if it is still on) for passenger side floor ducts needs to be removed and the motor is near the right side of "hump" (trans tunnel) mounted horisontial with the armature pointing upwards.

yes you have a temp blend door issue it is under dash on passenger side not hard to replace go to a parts store and see if they have one then get access to the one in you truck and turn the temp. knob from hot to cold see if the motor moves. mine finally quit moving that is why i replaced. i fix cars for a living so mine is allways last to be repaired even when it is something simple like this.

it is a square box not much more than 1/2 inch thick (black in color) has an arm pointing up into a door for heater box. not actual motor in your vehicle but you get the basics right?

if i remember i could see the arm not maving on mine you will need a flash light

You always add transmission fluid while the car is at running temps because transmission fluid expands when it's hot.
