My car starts up fine but then dies after just a few seconds. I hear the fuel pump going so trying to figure out where to go from there.
If the vehicle starts fine but it dies after a few seconds that indicates it can supply enough fuel for an initial start, but once the engine is running, it cannot keep up. Make sure the carburetor and fuel injector are correct.
the vehicle has been running fine for as long as i have had it, i drive it to and from work every day. this problem arose tonight for the first time as i was heading off to work. check engine light popped on with this problem.

The fuse box is located low on the left side of the dashboard behind a cover, or at the left side kick panel, behind a cover.
Relay Box
-is located under the left side of the dash as well.
SOURCE: When I pump gas into my 2000 Hyundai Sonata my car
It is possible that when fueling, the fuel is aerated and the pump pulls agitated fuel into the system. you can thry this, fuel up as normal, but wait five or more minutes before starting. see what happens. good luck
SOURCE: My hyundai is making a rattling noise
that sounds like what we call "spark knock" that occurs when u accellerate quickly, but yes it will go away in a few seconds when the computer detects this condition. with the economy the way it is it will be more expensive, but try running higher octane gasoline in it, should cure this condition. hope that helped you!!

dear friend-it appeares that you have no feul pressure, check pressure, feul filter, feul system,
Nicole 3 things keep a motor from starting.1. NO SPARK, 2. NO FUEL,. 3 ENGINE DAMAGE. Check to see if it has spark..
if it has spark its probably loss of fuel.. can be a clogged fuel filter or a inoperative fuel pump..
