Slipping automatic transmission

Automatic transmission, acts like a manual with a slipping clutch, It revs, but does not go, (most of the time) when in D4. Speed sticks between 20-40, then gives it to ya all at once. When you drop it in gear, the entire car jumps. Has trouble when taking off from stop sign/red light (takes off really slow) it is an 86 honda accord lx, with the motor from an 87. thanks in advance for your help

Larry, you really need to take it to a trasnsmission shop and find out what the trouble codes are, but it seems as though you have a burned up transmission. Thanks and good luck with your repair.

Why Is My Automatic Transmission Slipping? If you have an automatic transmission and it "slips" while you are driving it-that is, the car engine revs without the power going to the wheels-the most common cause (though not the only possible cause) is low transmission fluid. If the slipping is caused by low fluid, it will get worse as the transmission gets hotter.
Why Is My Manual Transmission Slipping? A standard ("manual") transmission uses fluid too, but leaks aren't a common issue; a standard transmission could lose all its fluid and never slip at all, though eventually it would lock up while driving down the road. If you have a standard transmission, and it's slipping-the engine revs but it doesn't transmit power to the wheels-the problem is usually in the clutch.
Further down in the article I discuss how to diagnose this problem.

2001 Ford Ranger automatic transmission will not move truck. Just slips

Time for a transmission rebuild, the clutches are shot or the system has a pressure failure.

When i take off in my truck it goes threw every gear great but when i floor it. my rpms rev up and the truck goes no where what could that be?

Manual transmission? If so the clutch is shot.
Automatic transmission? If so then the clutches could be shot. If the truck eventually gets up to speed and seems better then the torque converter is bad. (internal sprag is broken) Automatic transmissions have a number of clutch packs and yours has at least one band as well. If pressure is low or the clutches are worn out it will slip. And it will get pretty hot too so your oil will smell bad and be a brownish color instead of pinkish red.

Car slipping in uphill acceleration is it my tires or something more is wrong with it?

Hi,
If the engine is revving but your not going forward then it sounds like your clutch is slipping if it is a manual, or the clutch packs are worn if it is an automatic transmission. Either way the clutch or transmission will need to be repaired or replaced. Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

IF YOU GOT MANUAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SLIPPING.IF YOU GOT A AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.CHECK FOR LOW FLUID LEVEL WHICH WILL CAUSE SLIPPING.

Unable to get gears - car just revs in drive.

Standard or Automatic ???
Standard: the clutch is slipping, Automatic: the clutches internal are slipping, did you bother to check the transmission fluid level first ?????

Engine revs but car doesn't accelerate

Since you did not say what type of transmission you have i will suspect the clutch is slipping if it's a manual.
If it's an automatic, it could be several things. Low fluid level...clogged filter, fluid needs to be changed..transmission serviced...weak pump, bands/clutch packs worn...etc
Good luck..i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.

NO POWER WHEN PRESSING THE GAS DOES NOT ACCELERATE ENGINE REVS HIGH

If manual transmission, the clutch is slipping. Check for pedal free play (about 1 inch or so). If automatic transmission, the fluid level may be low, or the transmission needs service.
