I have a 2002 ford XLT ranger 4 ltr 2 wheel drive....Taken to 3 mechs. the truck will start up 20 times in 20 days then all of a sudden it wont start will crank over but not start, let it set for 3 to 3 hrs then it will start right up...taken to mechs starts everytime. What would cause it to just not start here and there>

Hi check all the fuse. fi the fuse are ok . remove the coil pack and reverce if the cly missifire change replace the coil if not chage replace the electronic comtrol module ok.

first go to an auto partstore and have the code checked. most do it for free. could be coil, fuel pump, fuel filter, air filter or even a bad gas cap. but the dianogstic test should pin point the problem.

I had same problem on my 2002 explorer. Its either the computer module, or the electric solenoid on the transfer case. In my case it was both. The computer module I had done twice in 14 months.

solenoid switch that engages the 4WD more likely will need replacing. fairly cheap to fix replace.
