SOURCE: While driving at highway speeds

Had a similar problem with 88 SAAB 9000 some years ago. All above solutions were suggested by various people and machanics tried everything, but problem persisted intermitently anyhow, till machanic from AA (rescue) suggested it was an electronic ingition related unit that sits snug against the body inside the engine compartment. When this little item was replaced (it's about 2 inches square and is very simple and relative inexpensive to replace) problem was solved forever.

Check fuel pressure. Sounds like a bad pump or plugged fuel filter.

Make sure all your injector connectors are clean and not corroded. make sure you have the correct resistor sparkplugs. And if both of those things are okay you probably have a bad direct ignition cassette.

My car is sputtering and dying. If I try to restart it, it will immediately go into sputtering/dying mode. If I wait a while an hour or so it will start up and drive fine.

When was the last time that the carburetor was stripped and cleaned? Also have you checked the fuel filter? Finally, the problem seems to come and go as the engine is run (and it gets hot) check that the fuel line and any electrical cables are well away from the hot engine as far as is possible.

Car loses power for short time after normal running and cooling down for ten minutes

sounds to be symptomatic of a CTS (coolant temperature sensor). there are two, one is for the interior temp gauge, the other is for the ECU/PCM while both are basicalty the same part, often even the same P/N, they both do extremely different things.

When it rains and I'm driving my car I start to lose power. Like it's not getting enough gas. the RPM's drop and sometimes it will die completely. Giving it more gas will sometimes allow it to ramain...

You need a tune-up - Plugs,Cap if it has one & properly the most important new set of wires, because when its wet outside all of those items get damp and if there old the mositure will penetrate into cracks ,shorting out those items.

97 lumina, 3.1. Starts runs smooth, drive for 30

I just recently have been fighting the same problem with the same make/model/year vehicle. For myself, I would drive off and on through the day and it would run fine. Then suddenly after a start it would run rough and die. I would have to wait 20 to 60 mins before it would start again. I had it checked and fuel pump was only putting out around 19 psi. It should be around 41 psi. Had fuel pump replaced and no more problems. Furthermore, now it runs so much better. It's funny how over time I didn't notice how the performance was slowly degrading. Unfortunaley fuel pumps for this car run around $300.
