My 91 Isuzu Pickup quit day like it had run out of gas, but I had just filled it. I can start it but it dies about 45 sec. . I pulled the pump and it works. After I put pump back in I looked to see if any fuses might be the cause. Everything seemed to be OK . I started engine and it kept running. I drove it about a mile came home and it died. Because I had been messing with fuse and relay box last I tapped on lid of box and it started and ran. How do test relays , is that really what my problem is

Pull your battery cables and hold them together for 3-5 min. this will reset the cpu. Then try it. You could have also gotten some bad gas. Put in some heet and change the filter. this should help.

It may be the idle air control valve is sticking from excessive carbon deposits on it. It is mounted to the throttle body and has a (3) prong wire connector leading into it. There are usually (2) screws that hold it on. You can try to clean it with kerosene, but be sure not to immerse it if you do.

The part runs about $45 at Autozone.

The gas in the tank actually provides cooling to your fuel pump.My best guess is that you ran low on fuel and the pump (which could have been marginal) has had it due to overheating. You will have to get the fuel system pressure checked to be sure or remove the main fuel line and see if fuel comes out.Have a bucket ready just in case.Good luck

'91 F150 won't start

I guess there could be debris in the tank - but the fuel filter will catch it and clog up (is that a hint, or what),

Other possible is the ignition coil... the are plastic inside and they dry out and crack inside.... when they are hot - open circuit... When they are cool, closed circuit - working...

so, next time it dies, check for spark. Otherwise, replace the fuel filter (hopefully you have one OUTSIDE the fuel tank).
Let us know - please... -Jim

Car will not start or stay running

Put a fuel pump in. Remove right front tire to get to it. Be sure it has fuel in the tank and not a faulty gage .

Acts like it can't get gas.

Your last sentence has me wondering, did u purchase gas for both vehicles at the same gas station? How far apart did u fill them up (same day, 2 days apart...) I am wondering if you got some bad gasoline. It would explain your problems and the coincidence of both vehicles giving u this type of problem. How about draining the gas out of the vehicle w/ the least in the tank, replace the fuel filter again add fresh gas from a different station. This is of course assuming your fuel pump is ok. When the gas is removed do u see any sediment? Any water would be at the bottom of the tank (gas floats on water) so u should check for water also. Let me know what u discover. good luck!! countrycurt0
