Yes your right! Sounds to me the idle air control valve is stuck open just a little to much which would cause the computer to feed the engine more fuel and cause this high rpm problem.Take it off and try cleaning the carbon out of it so that the piston sits flush in its seat then reset the computer by disconnecting the ground cable on the battery for 30 seconds. If all fails you will need to replace the IAC valve and reset the computer afterwards.

Sounds like you have a plenum door that is not opening when you go into defrost mode. You will have to check all your vacuum hoses and switching valves under the dash to see which one is not working. Hope this helps.

probably is a emissions sensor problem, lots of these parts are plastic. check out the throttle cables, lub em wd40. there is a type of valve somewhere on top of engine, it may be cracked, pcv valve stuck. lots of possibilities, almost too much for solution online. something emmissions with an electronic sensor is acting up.

This is a common problem. You have a cracked forward clutch piston. Ford made this part out of aluminum. The replacements are steel. But you have to disassemble the transmission to install it. ( I know you said Rev too, In the AXODE trans, the forward clutch is on in 1st and reverse)
Faulty idle air control valve. You could try and clean it with some carb cleaner, or replace it.

the first part of problem could be sensors or bad ECM (computer) second part of question sounds like you are low on antifreeze.
