It's not that hard to change the electric motor for the window. Yes, a handy man can do it.
Start by removing the negative battery cable from the battery. Then locate and remove the screws that hold the interior door handles in place (they may be hidden by snap in, or snap on covers).
I personally use a tool similar to the image below to remove the interior door panel; it is held in by plastic snap clips. Try to get as close to the snap clips as possible with your pry bar to prevent them from tearing out of the door panel. Once you have removed the interior door panel, the removal and installation of the window motor will be self explainitory for a handyman. You may be able to find a used motor at a salvage yard for a lot less than $143.00.

Power Window assemblY Needs replacing. I've had to replace my driver side assembly a few times over the years in my 97 accord after a wreck on that side. Something doesn't line up right anymore and it eventually causes it to wear out. Steel cable and plastic parts don't work real well together over time- that plastic can wear out. Tricky part can be getting the door panel off. From there it can be pretty straight forward. May need an extra set of hands to get the window just right to attach to the bracket on the regulator assembly. May find some useful videos online, even if it's for a different car it can give you a good idea.

Removing window motor

remove the door panel screws. there are 2. then remove the panel by pulling it straight back. start at 1 corner and work your way around. once loose, slide it off the door handle and unplug the window and door lock plugs and remove the panel. Pull the plastic back that is attached with a black urathine sealent from the lower left side and you will see the window moter. Unplug the motor. remove the motor spreding the 3 plastic clips apart and pull the motor straight back.

My drivers side window will not go up or down anymore. All the other windows will go up and down from the main switch on the drivers side door. What can I do to make it work?

probly need to take the door apart and see whats keeping it from rolling up. If the motor went bad theres your problem but if a clip or something broke loose and fell it may have wedged itself in the lifting mechanism

Driver side window wont roll up. All other windows go up and down..How can this be fixed with out costing an arm or leg..??

Power windows I take it, I would say you have a broken operating cable, costly repair because you have to buy the whole winder unit but they can sometimes be repaired with a little patience and invetiveness, I have repaired several (Crown Vic, Ford Probe and Mercury Maquis) using modified bike brake and gear shift cables.

Solution for ''Driver side power window stoped working on my 1996

The motor and gearset that operate the regulator are one piece. I've taken a few apart and found that the gears bind when worn and cause the motor to overheat and stop working. It's replaced as a unit. Instructions for panel removal can be found in most inexpensive manuals found in larger parts houses.

Drivers window does not move and sometimes display reads drivers side front door ajar and i cant even open gas cap

So as not to be repetitive, for the failure of your power window or windows, review this handy diagnostic article, which identifies the possible causes, from a bad fuse, relay to window motor, etc.:
http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Vehicle_Car_Zone_Cars_Trucks_Vans_Windshield_Windows_Window_Does_Not_Roll_Up_Down.htm

For power door lock failure, similarly, see this handy diagnostic article:
http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Vehicle_Car_Zone_Cars_Trucks_Vans_Locks_Power_Locks_Do_Not_Lock_When_Pressing_Locking_Switch_Button.htm

This should help.

I STARTED TO ROLL MY WINDOW UP ON MY 2005 F 150 AND SOMETHING INSIDE THE DOOR POPPED REAL LOUD. NOW IT WON'T WORK.

I am not sure if you can download anything, but you could purchase a Haynes repair manual, but try and look at it first to determine if it has what you are looking for. You can find those in most stores such as Autozone. I used to live in a town where there was a public library where I was able to look things up in a Chilton's manual and make copies.

Actually Chilton's has an online: http://www.chiltondiy.com/
