Try jacking up the vehicle and putting it on jack stands letting the suspension hang down. Disconnect the battery for a few minuts and reconnect it and it should inflate the airbags and level off the suspension.

The back of the jeep is dropped to the floor and the air compressor runs for a short time only. the back does not lift

Sounds like one/both air bag are leaking, check around the rear tires, if the compressor continues to run with a bad air bag it will burn up the compressor and drain the battery. your truck has a self leveling system

I believe it has to b reset / retrained by dealer or mechanic who has ability to read what the vehicle is or isn't doing. If you don't hear the compressor running constantly, you most likely don't have a leak, basically it'll run long enough to level up the vehicle and you shouldn't hear it again. try and dissconnect the battery, for a minute or so try it again.

Rear lower than front

it likely has air ride suspension and usually the lines that go from the compressor to the rear air bags have failed. have the system tested for a cracked line or even a bad compressor. there is also level sensors that may be bad but unlikly.

2000 Expedition rear suspension randomly leaks and pumps up fine. Sometimes the compressor funs a lot. The bags have 150K on them, but don't look too bad, no metal showing.Leaks evenly. Can I replace the...

One of your rear bags has a pinhole in the rubber, therefore the pump is trying to compensate for the needed air.A easy was to diagnose a air leak in the system is to spray down the bags with glass cleaner and it will show you where the leak is.Id suggest that you replace the defective bag rather than convert it to standard suspension.

I have a 99 ford expedition i replaced the air compressor cause the front air shocks were bad and ruined the compressor. and teh rear air bags went flat now that the new compressor is in the rear wont air...

I have a 2001 Expedition, I don't have air bags in the front, the compressor don't work the air shocks. You have rear leveling. When they replaced the (compressor) did they turn the leveling switch back on. you may have air shocks connected to the compressor. Did the rear go down right after or over a couple of days. If the switch is on, turn it off and jack the rear up quiet a bit, make sure both side are quiet equal with each other, like it would be if it where raised by the air bags. Turn your level switch back on with it jacked up or sitting on stands. It may have went down so much that the compressor can't raise them back up.

sounds like possibly the bags are blown or either lines leaking if it's the bags blown out there are a couple choices replace the bags obviously or you can get an aftermarket kit to do away with the air ride suspension and put regular springs and shocks under it which is alot cheaper than new bags. but make sure you don't have a line that has ruptured

My rear suspension on my 1997 expedition has dropped down but the air pump works fine when I hot-wire it. It does not work when it's plugged in. What should I try next?

HI. you may have a slow leak on one of the rear air lines that run to the bag. check the lines for leaks. if there are no leaks in the system, this will confirm a failed leveling system. the sensors will need to be replaced.

'98 Expedition Rear suspension leaking

IFYOU FIND THE AIR BAGS ARE LEAKING (USUALLY IS THE PROBLEM) JUST REPLACE IT. LIFT UP THE REAR REMOVE THE TIRE ,DISCONNECT THE PLASTIC LINE THAT GOES TO THE AIR BAG (push the little grommet pull the plastic hose) DISCONNECT THE WIRE CONNECTOR, AND REMOVE THE CLIP AT THE TOP OF THE AIR BAG (JUST PULL IT) AND REMOVE THE AIR BAG (REVERSE TO INSTALL IT)
(YOU CAN REMOVE THE AIR BAG IN ABOUT 40 MINUTES) EACH SIDE.( on ebay you can find replacement to a regular shocks) or air bags

Air ride suspension 1997 ford expedition

If the compressor is working and actually pumping out air, might need to check your lines dont have a leak by disconnecting them from the bags. If pressured air is making it to the end of the line, then bags may need to be inspected and one or both replaced. However it is more likely that the lines are leaking or the compressor pump needs a service. Just a new set of rings in the unit. Good luck, hope it helps.
