How do you repair the intake manifold gasket on a 2001 chevy lumina

make sure all the electrical connectoures back in place

Upwards of a $1000.00, it's a rather involved job.

remove the throttle body,remove the valve cover,remove the intake manifold bolts. you SHOULD be able to GENTLY pry the intake back enough to remove the gasket. be careful as to not scratch or ding any surface that comes into contact with the gasket.clean the gasket surfaces thoroughly and install the gasket. install in reverse order. make sure that you torque all bolts down to specs and in the order called for. on a final note...yu may have to remove the EGR valve to get some clearance to make it easier

Could be the intake manifold gasket leak is upsetting the manifold vacumn which in turn will have an effect on the idling adjustments. The extra drag of the Auto Trans wnen engaged may cause the engine to 'cut-out'. Fix the manifold gasket first, re-adjust the idle, then see what you find.

there are many details to this job. i just did mine a few months ago. the best thing to do is go to any auto parts store and buy a haynes manual, they are based on a complete teardown of vehicle.this book will tell how to do the job. the books are only 20.00, or less.

sounds more like a carbon issue on the piston rings. i would run an oil cleaner such as BG #109, i have seen excellent results with this. worth a try for the price ( about $20 for a can).

Under the intake manifold. Make sure you get the harness for the knock sensors. and clean out all of the rust and junk you're going to find donw in the holes before and after you replace the sensors.

Hi I'm litoshop yes under the manifolds you water seals on the block of the engine when you use a lot of water in your radiator the freeze out plugs rust out and you get these leaks to replace you have to remove the manifold you can use some kind of block sealer but I recommend to replace the seal good luck. if this information has been useful please let us know thank you

probably it is your water pump

loose connections at coil pack or alternator,fuel not reaching fuel injectors properly,vacuum leak at intake gasket between intake manifold/ plenum and throttle body.
