If not genius , get a mechanic,?
the coolant is out of control, good observation !!
that puts you at genius level in this forum. IMO.
bad thermost
or cooling fan stuck on, state out door air temperatures.
state how long you drove car and how far.

some cars have electric fans or mech. fans
if they stick on , they can cause coolant to crazy.
in frigid out door temperatures, (unstated)

easy ? nobody can answer that, but you can look up the standard flat rate on labor for most cars. use those hours as a guide.

Also options on car can make some things hard to get to.
A/C? Cruise control. ,
If you use google and use google image you can find a 3d drawing of your whole engine. and see the thermostat location.
most are on top front of the head.
some are easy, others you turn the screw and its snaps in half
requiring 4 more hours labor to fix that damage.
fixing cars is like that. no job is the same, only luck and entropy rule the universe. (rust?)
what we do , is find the truth, the fix it.
there is no other way, you find it and replace it and what happens next is , reality, (oh gosh, the last guy stripped the threads.)

SOURCE: 1988 Audi 90 electric windows stop working

Perhaps it is a problem for an auto electrician. 30 minutes is enough time for a built up charge to dissipate, The charge/short circuit it is causing is not enough to blow the fuse however, since it works after letting the charge clear.
There is no response at all? it doesn't go half way up then stop etc?

SOURCE: onboard temp gauge

you need to go to the parts house and purchase an ambient temperature sensor. that is the sensor that tells the car what the outside temp. is. I hope that helps you out.

SOURCE: Need to know coolant temp operating range for 1988 Seville

Entirely possible and in range. Depends on outside temps and type of driving. The radiator is colled by electric cooling fans, controlled by temp sensors. Fans should come on automatically when a/c is turned on

SOURCE: audi a4 bonnet release mechanism broken

This can be over come by getting a pair of vise grips and gripping the cable that is sticking out and pulling it out, once you have opened it Do not attempt to close the hood without replacing the cable. You have maybe only one chance at this so if you don't succeed you will make it harder for a mechanic to fix it. a new cable is not to difficult to replace, buy the cable and housing replace both.

2003 Audi A6 temp goes to 120 overheats then down to 90 and oil symbols comes also

I would check the thermostat first. Remove the thermostat and place it in a pan of water on the stove. Place a thermometer in the water with the thermostat and slowly increase the temperature until you have reached 194 degrees Fahrenheit or 90 degrees Celsius. Watch closely for the thermostat to open slightly. If it opens then the thermostat is good. If it does not open, replace it. Try that first and see what you come up with.

MY TEMP GAUGE ON 2005 TDI 130 PASSAT IS RISING NEARER 100oC WHEN CRUISING AT HIGHER SPEEDS, IT COMES BACK DOWN TO 90 WHEN SPEED REDUCED, COOLANT LEVELS FINE AND WATER LEVELS OK, ANY IDEAS PLEASE?

100 degrees is the normal operating temperature for the motor. If it goes higher than that, the thermostate needs to be replaced. The temperature will be higher on the highway because the engine is producing more heat energy due to the higher load on the motor. Diesels idle cooler and the engine will cool down at idle or lower speeds. That is why it is best not to idle your car for long periods of time because this will cause deposits in the engine and glaze the cylinders. The engine is working normal from what you described and there is no reason to worry. I hope this helped.

Heater is cold but abit warm when drivin audi a4 2005

Check & replace the engine thermostat if necessary.

Heed of antifreeze coolant temperature!!!
First time you might check the thermostat operating.
The thermostat location for 2005 Audi A4 1.9 TDI, is on back of the alternator at the bottom side of the bracket.
IMPORTANT: It is NOT necessary to replace the alternator if you want to change the thermostat !!!
Thermostat checking:
1. Cold engine. Start up the engine and watch of the water temp indicator. After first value 60 Celsius Degree you still warm up the engine until the lifter (pointer) reach 80 C deg. (second mark after 60 C deg.). At this time you let engine running at idle speed and check with your hand the thermostat plastic housing and hose temperature in bottom left side of the engine. Heed of alternator driving belt and ventilator fan !!!
2. If the thermostat is good the hose must be cold until the water temp indicator reach almost 90 C deg.
3. The thermostat opening temperature is 87 C deg.
4. If the hose is already warm the thermostat is out of order.

Thermostat location, Part number: 044121113, in german - "Kuehlregle" (Price around $25):

Important note: Always replace the round thermostat seal, position 7 in the above picture.

How can I resolve a eating problem. The temperature of the engine is always beetwen 90 and 96 degrees and I think that is ttoo hot for normal routing. Can change the thermostate? or chenge the rediator?...

If it is that low it is running too cold. Typical Operating temperature is 180 to 212 degree. Check your thermostat. If it's not boiling over or your temperature gauge is between the Hot and Cold marks on the dash indicator, close to the center between the two, then your engine is fine.

My Ac is always going off within a short time

hi charles,

i don't think the catalyst has something to do with the ac. you mentioned you are in africa and i am assuming it is positive 50 degrees celcius and not negative 50 degrees celcius as stated in your post. i could see a dash before the number 50.

anyway, there is a pressure switch that would de-activate your compressor once the high pressure reaches an abnormal level. and this level could easily be reached at 50 degrees celcius ambient temperature. so it seems there is nothing you can do about it.

i could suggest that you put an adittional fan if you still don't have, to cool the condenser further.
or just try to cool the condenser, while parked, turn the ac on, and doze the condenser with water and observe if the ac would still cut off. if it does not, then the problem is your ambient temperature.

tnx 4 using fixya,
