The compressor will start and then sfter a few minutes it will stop working. I had the issue in late summer but when the weather cooled the issue went away. Since it has started warming issue has returned. I had the AC charged and looked at. They said it may be a temp switch that needs replacing. Does anyone know where this switch or relay is?
Re: AC compressor will not stay on during hot days
THE COMPRESSOR TRIPS DUE TO TWO REASONS, FIRST ONE IS THAT EXCESS GAS IS CHARGED IN COMPRESSOR CIRCIT AND DUE TO THIS COMPRESSOR OVERLOADS AND TRIPS. THE SECOND ONE MAY BE DUE TO THERMOSATIC VALVE LOCATED IN CHILLER (IN SIDE CAR SWITCH BOARD/DASH BOARD). FROM [email protected]

you have moisture in the system this causes your expancion valve to freeze up an stop working, thats why it works for sort time and when it de-freezes stars working again. you need to do a EVAC & RECHARGE with a good AC service equipment, specially attention to pull vacumm por at least 20minutes so you get all moisture out of the system.
two things you may try, relocate ambient sensor to colder place, remove it from front bumper, and connect the two wires on refregerant temp sensor located @ rear of compressor, be carefull and observe your a/c system after doing this
AC will not work with temps are cold even when it is turned on. The air is colder cause the temp is colder. The AC cycles in hot weather because the AC charge is low and needs recharging. You will know this if you open the hood run the AC and you will hear the clicking sound of the AC compressor magnetic clutch. You can recharge it easily buy buying a compatible can of refrigerant. I suggest buying the kit with the gage so you don't overcharge the system which will cause freeze ups
