BMW 1988 325 Dashboard orange check light stays on while driving.
My BMW 1988 325 has a orange check light that comes on when I start the car.It goes out when I step on the brake and lights up again and flashes all the while I'm driving. Also when its cold my engine goes up and down and stalls or cuts off when I put it in gear or stop at a stop light or stop sign.I dont have that problem when the weather is nice.

This would be a very difficult problem to solve on a forum like this by not being able to eliminate components. However, after 30+ years of chaising problems like this the first thing that comes to mind is a bad ground somewhere.
The one clue is where you say it all clears up (or mostly clears up) when you hit the brakes. The only thing taking place when you do that is to create an alternate ground path through the brake light filaments.
As a general technicians rule "If it weird, its a ground".
I would start looking at each ground starting under the dash, but the ground problems could be in other places.
It can be difficult to find this kind of issue, and I only suggest this from expierience in the past.
to reset light brake sensor must have been replace close door turn key on but dont start car when time is displayed on instrument cluster press and hold button on left side of cluster a orange triangle will appear keep holding next service function will be displayed release button to scroll through services that can be reset just push button again without holding when rear brakes are displayed on cluster press and hold button again the message reset with a question mark will come up release button and then press and hold again and light will reset
The check engine light could be any number of things and the only way to find out is have the codes scanned. The brake light issue is common on E46 3 series. It is an issue were the brown ground wire that goes into the lamp housing melts at the connector causing a loose ground connection. The connector needs to be replaced and also add additional grounding wires to prevent further issues. And for fuel additives either use the cheveron techron, or the bmw fuel additive(the bmw stuff is the exact same thing, so just use which ever is cheaper).
