My 2003 ford explorer v8 have a vibration above 55mph for over a year now, and it worsens. Over the time I replaced both front wheel bearings, both rear wheel bearings, rear drive shaft U-joints, front...

have to decide if the vibration is engine or transmission sourced
Is the vibration there in neutral at the rpm of 55 mph or better Taking that at 55mph you would be in over drive and the rpm would be around the 2600 mark
hold the rpm steady and see if the vibration is apparent
raise the rpm to see if it comes in
if it does , it is an engine problem and probably a balance shaft timing out
If not then it is a transmission problem and as it would be in over drive and the indications would be a failing bearing in the rear of the transmission of transfer case

I have a 1992 VW Cabriolet about 3 000 rpm it

The vibration at that high rpm is most likely coming from the torque convertor and if a manual transmission , then clutch issues.

Rattling Coming from Engine At low RPM (stopped) and when accl.

If this sounds like a tin can rattle it is likely a loose heat shield on top of the catalytic converter. They come loose after time and corrosion take their toll.

Vibration at 2100 rpm

It is probably your Motor Mounts. They attach the engine in 4 places to the frame of the car. When the rubber wears out, it will cause excessive veibration.

Take it to your mechanic and tell him to check the motor mounts. For the front and side three mounts, it will probably run about $550 with the parts, im guessing.
