if there are no noises and the transmission shifts properly when it works , then a replacement transmission should be the last consideration
controls in the transmission are electronic and are shared by the VSS ( vehicle speed sensor ) . TR sensor ( transmission ratio sensor) and the TCM
the wiring may be your problem and a problem vacuum actuator is indicated as that tells the rest when to change in relation to throttle opening
if you have not changed the oil in the last 5 years or 60,000 miles , that would be a good place to start
The speed sensor located near the drive shaft from the gearbox with a 3 wire n a 10mm bolt.. Try look somewhere where the drive shaft come out from ur gearbox
Check for the sensor on the transmission which is the speed sensor it might be disconnected or it might not be working properly at all. So that should fix that problem, as into the timing belt check for any small cracks or missing tooth the u might want to replace it. Other than that it should rum good.
there 3 sensors, the first is the speed sensor located on top of transaxle, then the NC speed sensor located rear of transaxle and the NM speed sensor located on the front of transaxle,(transaxle = transmission) there are a couple of solenoids also, heres a diagram to help you, hope this is helpful.
it's only a couple of things that could be wrong. if you already replaced to speed sensor make sure you have power and the connector. but it's prob you gauge
HI..
The Speed sensor on your Honda Accord 97.
Is located on the Transmission.
If you follow the Lower Radiator hose from the rad to the engine.
The hose end on the Thermostat housing.
OK.. Just on direction of the thermostat housing .
Under the housing you Will see on the transmission the Speed sensor, with a connector of 3 wires. Is the only sensor at this
Part of the Transmission..
Ok. I hope this work on your question.
Thank you for use fixya..
A green flashing "S" is similar to a check engine light. It is telling you that something in or on your transmission is not functioning correctly, such as the speed sensor or shift control solenoids. If it starts flashing and the speedometer stops working or the transmission shifts weird, take it to a mechanic.
I have to shift the gears manually in an automatic, why?
How much does a speed sensor cost for a 1992 honda accord lx
