Car will not crank and the timing chain is fine

Well, that's good, but even if the chain was broke, the starter would still be tryiing to start the car. Since your starter wont crank the engine over, your start circuit has a malfunction. Possibly the starter went out, so you need to have that tested for a malfunction. A simple test of part of the circuit is to turn the key to on.. Now your dash warnimg lights (oil, alternator, and check engine light) should be on. Are they on, and your gauges working? If not you have lost power to the ignition switch, so check your battery connections. If the key switch turns the dash on, then turn key to start. Do you hear a click from the engine area? If not, have the starter checked. If you do hear a click, or several clicks, then power from the switch is causing that click, probably at the starter. Turn the headlights on and observe them. Are they bright? If not, charge the battery up. If they are bright, watch them while a helper turns the key to start. If the lights go dim in start, probably a bad starter. If the lights don't dim, it could be a bad connection somewhere, like the battery or starter. Good luck

Went out to start van and it seem as if it wont turn over the first time but it did; then went to the store around the corner and it wont start or turn over. i kept turning the ignition to start and after...

That sounds like a starter issue. If the engine is clicking when you turn the key on it will be starter. If there is nothing when your turning key on it's probably battery or solenoid issue. Solenoid for starter is located attached to the side of your starter.

Went out to go to store Turn key just here hum

might have been the starter turnig but not moving gear out to drive the flywheel.if it only hums when you turn the key to stat it is most likely a bad starter.if you can get at the starter to tap it with a hammer or steel object while someone turns key it may start for you

Starter clicks will not turn engine to start

if the starter is clicking, the problem is most likely the starter. try tapping on the starter with a hammer while someone is making it click click click with the key. it it starts working, it probably wont last very long. you might as well replace it, or carry a hammer and someone to click the key.
MAKE SURE THEY DONT RUN YOU OVER IF IT STARTS. you know.. make sure it is in neutral, brakes on , tires blocked, etc.
If there is an oil leak, and the starter is very greasy, that is probably why it quit working. so make sure you address the leak, or it will quit again.

Won't start good battery but I hear a click but won't turn over..

Check for a good ground at engine end of negative cable. check starter end of positive as well. Click tells you that either the starter relay is getting signal from key switch and is not responding or that starter solenoid (on starter) is doing the same. If there id 12v at the starter main lead and 12v at the smaller starter terminal with key in start position, change the starter.(providing good ground and connections have been verified) If there is no power at small lead, suspect the relay has failed.(in power distribution box near battery)
