Parked my 1990 vandura 1500 V6 one night recently. Everything's normal. Woke up next morning and went to start van and could barely start it. Had to keep feathering throttle to keep it running. Took engine cover off and looked for phy.,problems,ie, vaccum hoses etc. Took air cleaner off etc. Checked tail pipe for possible obstruction etc. Checked distributor, looks a little worn but not that worn. Finally put code reader on and no problem with codes so...?

This sounds silly but try using a piece of garden hose (or any other hose) held to your ear, using the free end as a probe. You will be able to pinpoint the source of the hissing noise and see what needs to be fixed.

Check your IAC motor (Idle Air Control) It could be sticking open.
Ps. Might be called Idle Speed Control motor it depends on the make and i forget what chevy calls theres.

SOURCE: 93' chevy 4.3 V6 vortec. engine problem

fuel lines inside the intake plhenum may be cracked and leaking inside the plhenum. same thing happened to my 1992.sonoma. they are made of a plastic material and tend to crack right in the bend of these lines.

SOURCE: Saturn SL2 does not idle, revs, misses.... Did before I removed

My car was doing this pretty bad and I changed the engine coolant temp sensor and it fixed my problem. Hope this helps!!

Change plug wires next and put in some SeaFoam. This sounds like a tune up issue... just run though the paces.
