Turn signals not working flasher fine

1980 El Camino. I got at auction-it has 15,000 miles on it and looks great inside and out. When I turn on the right turn signal, the interior electrical panel lights up like it should. But, when I turn the left signal on, I can hear it blinking, but it isn't displaying on the dash. When I try hazards, again, only the right blinker blinks on the panel. All the lights work on the exterior of the car regardless. I replaced the flasher...did nothing. Do you think it's a bulb?

Again, the problem is with the dash panel...not the lights on the outside of the car. all blinkers, brakes and hazards blink just fine. The dash panel is only lighting up the right turning arrow.....

SOURCE: Brake light, reverse light and turn signal issues

Hello. The symptoms you are describing are likely due to a poor ground. Temporarily install a new ground wire by securing a piece of copper wire to the frame with a self tapping screw. Use this ground wire along with the hot wire to see if each of these lights works. If it does, trace the ground wire back to the frame, unscrew it and clean up the metal with emery cloth so you reestablish a good ground.

SOURCE: 1997 Dodge Neon left signal lights work great. Right side blinks very fast.

Has the car been in a fender bender ? check for wiring going to the front and rear lights to see if on has rubbed into a ground wire or the body. ( even if there has been no accident.)

Where is the turn signal flasher located in an 87 El Camino?

Under the dash on the left side of the steering wheel. You'll see the fuse panel. There is a flasher on the front side that you'll see and one one the backside. They are both the same. On is for the turn signal, one for the flasher.

Hi. i have a 1980 chevy elcamino. turn signal light does not flash on right side. light does come on. left side works like normal. hazards work fine....i beleave one flasher works for both sides...any...

There should be two flasher controls in your fuse box, one for the hazards and one for the blinkers. If replacing the flasher does not work, a bad ground at the signals can cause this problem.

1980 El camino three speed, having a sudden loss

Try replacing the ignition module and check the pick-up coil for broken wires. The wires on these pick-up coils are solid and after years of use can break inside of the insulation. Also check the vacuum advance hose for cracks and the unit for proper function. The vacuum advance pulls the pick-up coil and rotates it to advance the timing causing the wires to break. To change the pick-up coil you will have to pull the distributer out of the engine and disassemble it, meaning that you will have to remove the gear from the bottom and pull the shaft out which may not be easy because of years of grime build-up inside of the distributer housing. Also check the vacuum modulator on the transmission (the cylinder looking thing that the vacuum line from the engine connects to) for trans fluid in the line and being sucked into the engine. Usually when its bad you'll notice white smoke coming from the tailpipe.

This is a snap on cover that covers your old one without it's removal, just paint it to match. Now you can get these from a lot of different places and I'm NOT recommending any business or company, just saying this is an easy way to get a nice looking dash without replacing it.

1980 el camino---brake problems

Fuse should be under dash on left side. Providing that there is power there and power at the signal switch (and bulbs are good) likely there is a problem in the signal switch.
