I have a 2000 Saturn sl2. I have my service light and my security light on at all times. sometimes my car will start then immediately cut out like a kill switch. when this happens the security light will start to flash. I heard that the Saturns have installed a key recognition security feature for anti theft. if this is so, mine acts up every now and then and needs to be re-set. I know how to re-set it, but is frustrating and takes about 10 mins to do. How do I solve this problem? do I need to change this security device? what is the cost to change?

the tumblers in ignition switch are getting worn. only way to fix that is a new ignition switch. their not cheep.

The best possible thing I could advise you to do would be this. Sometimes they can do it over the phone. Tell them that you are having issues with your radio being locked. Usually they can look up by your VIN number and get you your unlock code. Otherwise you will have to take it to the dealer and have them hook up their vehicle scanner (Tech-2) and they will be able to fix it. Everyone on the internet has their own secret ways about how to obtain these codes, but with it comes to GM the best way is to take it to a dealer.
