2010 Mazda Mazda3 hood release broken... How do I get the hood open?

The current third generation was introduced in mid-2013 as a 2014 model." My guess is the transmission from 2004 to 2009 mike be cross compatible. I would go to Autozone and ask or call the parts department at department at a local Madza dealer.

Most likely you have power assist. Either the pack and pinion died, or you lost power and /or ground to it.

The replacement steps should be in your owners manual.
The filter should be behind the glove box. The glove box has to be removed on some models.

where did it break off at in the cabin or under the hood? you might be able to use a pliers or vise grip to snag the cable and use it to pull the hood release
