No unless the engine is knocking or rattling.. You can replace the sensor if you think it is bad. You need to find out why the oil is very low.. Is there a leak, is engine burning oil. is engine knocking or rattling,,is oil filter bad. Keep driving like you are and you will not to wonder about knock sensor since the engine will fail. From the situation the engine may be on its last legs.

Thanks to Dennis Weid, Robert Garcia, Colin Strickland, and "gingo12670" on this website, that is what I found to be the problem causing my 2000 ES300 to not shift more than once into overdrive without shutting my car off. Apparently if your knock-sensor(s) is bad it will send a signal (or lack of an expected signal) that will cause one of the "brains" to not allow a shift into overdrive since that would only aggravate a knock situation. The sensors are not an easy fix as the intake manifold must be removed. It cost me $750, but I am happy as a clam since the solution has eluded me for too long. My Lexus has over 200K miles but after flushing my transmission to no avail, but just now replacing both knock sensors, it now feels once again like a new car.

do you mean the code reader is flooding meaning giving this code tons of times or are you saying the car is flooding out and you also are getting a fuel knock sensor code. The more complete thourough the questions are the better diagnosis can be given. The situation is the knock sensor is just that. it picked up some kind of vibration and in turns tries to protect the engine from any further damage. this is why the car is not starting. Usually this trips the fuel shut off switch and stops the fuel pump from running. Untill you reset the fuel shut off this will not start. Owners manual will explain location and procedure of switch.
well it sounds like your car is starting out in 4th gear which is overdrive,thats quite the load on the engine.knock sensor is what it says its a sensor.it is designed to sense knock on heavy accel..it is suppose to ****** your timing to stop knock. your mechanic is on the right track to say it is poss. the transmission.
the knock sensor tells the car's on board computer/PCM that the engine is pinging/knocking from poor fuel or the wrong octane or other engine related faults, they seldom fail, most likely the connector to the sensor is making a poor connection, the knock sensor is located on the engine block, it screws into th water jacket, do u hear any engine ping or spark knock?.
