Windshield wiper control module on a 2003 lincoln

Intermittent wipers are controlled by mufti-function switch (under steering wheel). However, Ford saw fit to include a 'rain sensor'. Located Windshield Front Center. Please provide more info if this doesn't help.

There are two types windshields for that truck,,,, one is standard and one is for auto rain sensing,,, has a little gel pac to the right of the rearview mirror center of windshield, 2" diameter ,,, if you installed the wrong one then it will cause the wipers to do strange things,,,also if the gel pac was damaged or was not replaced it will cause same condition,,, hope this helps

When driving or starting the car i notice when using the brakes it makes a squeaking noise - not all the time think its possibly damp causing it as it was raining yesterday and it happened but no rain...

To address your first problem squeaking brakes aka "brake squeal", is most often casued by one or 2 things: "Pad vibration" or a "low brake warning sensor".

Pad vibation is usually caused by ineffective pad anti-rattling clips & hardware that allow the pads to vibrate at a super fast speed whenever the brakes are applied, thus causing a high pitch brake squeal. To correct this, replace all the pad hardware and anti-rattling clips and make sure you use a quality pad set that has anti-rattling plates attached to the backs of them. Weather conditions do affect brake squeal, that is why it seems to be worse at times.

Low brake warning sensor squeal occurs when your brake pads reach the point of replacement, the sensor attached to the pads scrapes on the rotor which produces a high pitch squealing sound to warn you it's time for new pads.

As far as your second problem goes (a knocking sound), I'll need more information about the problem before I can offer a possible cause (eg. happens on left or right turns, while going over bumps, at high or low speeds, accellerating...).

these sensors are a new thing just a few years out. they are still working out all the bugs, also you can try having the sensor replaced, if its glued to the window to much glue can affect preformance.

Have put new bracks on frond an back an they squeal an make aiot of noise

Have you went through rain puddles lately this can cause them to squeal. If this is not your problem then i would set the adjuster on the brakes.... look near the bottom of the brakes for a dial with teeth and turn them downward to set the brakes back a little.... your brakes could be set too close still. Hope this helped ;)

Brake wear sensors

Redmondeo34

A couple of things to check.
This is only if you replaced the front pads, after the warning light came on.
1. Make sure brake fluid is level and at the max mark
2. Did you replace the front pads sensors with the new pads.If not please do.
3. Check that the rear pads and sensors are not worn and do not require replacing.
4. If all above is good, Drive vehicle for about 5klm and switch off and on it will reset itself

regards
I hope this helps.
