The Enhanced Traction System warning light may come on for the following reasons:
If you turn the system off by shifting to SECOND (2) or FIRST (1), the warning light will come on and stay on. To turn the system back on, shift to THIRD (3) or AUTOMATIC OVERDRIVE (). See “Enhanced Traction System” in the Index.
If the Enhanced Traction System warning light comes on and stays on for an extended period of time when the system is turned on, your vehicle needs service. Adjust your driving accordingly.
The warning light will come on when you set your parking brake with the engine running, and it will stay on if your parking brake doesn’t release fully. If the transaxle shift lever is in any position other than FIRST (1) or SECOND (2) and the warning light stays on after your parking brake is fully released, it means there’s a problem with the system.
If the traction control system is affected by an engine-related problem, the system will turn off and the warning light will come on.
as with any other warning light on your dash......get the trouble codes read and then you'll have a starting point. Don't ask us to guess which of the more than 800 possible codes is stored in your computer.
bad wheel speed sensor or wiring to it open or shorted. just fixed same ABS & Traction Control problem on my 2001 Chevy. No matter make or model the systems are pretty much the same.
ABS and TC work together, a problem with either one of these will set both lights.
If you can get a ACTRON Code reader 9185 it will read Gobal and ABS codes. Don't know if your local auto parts store will be able to read ABS codes for you. I repaired mine for $140.00 no more problems - take it to a dealer and you will be looking at $800.00 plus.
Start by scanning your codes. You can do this without a scan tool, right on your dashboard. To the right of your instrument cluster, with the car on, press "on/off" and "info ^" at the same time. All your dash lights will come on for a few seconds then shut off, then you will be prompted by the message area under your gauges. use info up and down and scroll to all codes then press on off. Take note of any codes that come up as current and google them to find out what they are.
The traction light only shows when it is turned off. If the traction control wasn't work, the van would show a code aka engine light would come on. Tracation Control only works at speeds below 35 mph.
