If your fusebox is in the panel to the right of the ignition key, the fuse is number 29, this fuse also covers other items so it maybe that either the cables have come off the back of the lighter or it is faulty if the fuse is good. hope this helps.

1995 Ford Escort Wagon, turn on the key NOTHING happens. No click no dash lights no start.

Buy your battery there is a master fuse link that burns out to protect the systems. It is a smaller section of wire Lighter gauge that burns and separates. feel for it and look for bubbled wire coating.

this could be your problem and is a simple fix. Mike

The cigarette lighter on my 2001 ford escort zx2 does not work. It isn't a fuse and there is no power going to the leads that connect to the lighter. Can't figure this out. please help. John C.

FYI, the ligher only gets power when the key is on. If it doesn't have power even with the key on, then the leads probably came off the back of the lighter.

1987 ford escort will not start has power?

have you noticed anything else stop working on the car/van ie heating cigaretter lighter etc, if so it could be the fuse box, ford escorts are renowned for the fuse boxes to go. also another suggestion is to check all of the earth straps, mine used to cut out when i used to turn right because of a dodgy earth, then the fuse box packed in
