Question about 1997 Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai lantra 1997 sedan 1.8 ltr engine cutting off after short drive if engine hot or cold the same,after cutting off enfine immidate start and drive normaly,it's happen anytime. ple's help me find out this problem its grateful to u, thanks and regards manoj

Check the battrey sounds silly i know but i had simler problem and the batrey was on its way out

Try having the crank sensor changed. and check the ignition coil by your mechanic

Antifreeze is full? If you are moving down the road and it overheats it isnt the fan. The fan only cools the engine when the vehicle is sitting still.

I need the cylinder head torque settings for 1997
1998 Hyundai Lantra "G4GM" engine 1795cc.there are two heads or blocks, one is called the M10, other is the M12, figure out which one you have cause the torque is different for stage one by 5nm........... Dont get confused theres 2 different engines so 2 different torques for stage1---------
heres the full details: Stage 1 - m10 = 30nm / m12 = 35nm-------------------------- -------- Stage 2 - tighten by 60-65 degrees ------------ stage 3 - tighten by 60-65 degrees. no sequence is given in the data book for tightening so go off what you thinks right, it doesn't matter on this engine.

You have to use a ring compressor. Available at any auto parts store.

If the replacement thermostat is good, and installed properly, then the temp sensor might be bad. I hate to tell you ($$$$$) but waterpump could be bad (more expensive)

I,ve got a problem starting my 97 hyundai lantra 5dr sedan. i think it has something to do with the switch on the cluth, car normally won,t start unless clutch fully engaged,. i,ve got a new battery and...
try pushing the clutch to the floor with you toes if it starts and won't unless you push to the floor its the clutch start switch 22 bucks at auto zone i will be gettng help installing the new one i will let you know.
