Since you can push it. It would be the shifter cable(clips broke or just came disconnected) or the bracket holding the cable on either end of it. Most likely at the shifter. I have seen them broke at the transmission. But it was a fault of the person trying to remove it from the bracket.
hey look under neath where ur driver footpedals are. chances are that the rubber grommet on the end of ur cable came off or broke.. look up into the column area an look for the black cable goin to a pivot point on shifter arm. reconnect. but will prob need new cable cause if end is no good will fall of again. move shifter back an forth to help u locate area of cable
Sounds like either a bent rim or loose or worn wheel bearings, if you can jack the back end up, just so the tire is off the ground, grasp the top and bottom of the tire and try to rock it back and forth, if it clunks you've got bearing troubles.
I think the cable is molded into the little plastic piece. see if you can see the end of the cable. see if it looks like it broke, or was cut. if not, the molding came undone, and the cable pulled from the anchor in the plastic thing.
Try jacking up the whole back end, disconnect the u-joint and see if you can move the rear end by turning the tires and turning the input shaft of the rear end. If the rear end is free you most likely have a problem with your transmission or transfer case. One of those could have locked up, locking up your rearend making it feel like a shudder in the rearend, then breaking the weak link between the two (the u-joint). Hope this helps.
Easiest way to check and see what the issue is. Jack up the front end of the vehicle and support it on stands grab the top and bottom of the wheel and move it back and forth check to make sure it is not in the lower ball joint, if it moves back and forth very freely it is either the bearing or the lower ball joint. Grab the front and rear of the tire and move it watch the tie rod end and see if it has slack in it the other wheel should move as much as the one you are moving.
