Low beam lights won't work.

My 99 Surburban lights only work on high beam. The daytime running/low beam lights won't come on any more. I've been told to replace the instrument cluster which is about $300! Is there a cheaper way? Maybe a way to bypass the panel so the lights work on just manual light switch. I really don't need the daytime light feature.

Just checked the wiring and your headlights are wired common ground. So black is ground and power comes from headlight dimmer to brown wire for low beam. So check for power there first. From there it goes to a relay under dash by column for the daytime running light then to the headlight itself.

If you choose to bypass running lights, then if power is at brown wire at dimmer switch then just run a new wire from that switch to the browns on the headlight bulb connector

Just a temp remedy for now is to hardwire low beams to running lights or even to the high beams that stay on (make sure to unplug high beams though).
This is a temp fix till you figure it all out...keep you from a ticket.

It could be a switch, connector, or even bad bulb... Just depends on your particular case

Cluster is not at all connected to your headlights other than high beam indicator. If you have high beams then the relay is good. So the +12feed will be at the orange wire at the lights. So if yellow has no ground, then the dimmer or multifunction switch on steering signal switch is bad. This is where to check next

Don't know that much about 99 Surburbans but you may won't to see if you could just unplug it from the cluster or maybe see if thiers a fuse for your lights that you can take out

SOURCE: Odometer only works at night

THE PROBLEM IS A BAD OR SHORTED PINS OR CHIP, SO YOUR BEST BET IS THAT, TO REPLACE THE CLUSTER, SORRY.
ALL NEW CLUSTERS ARE ELECTRICAL NOW.
WHAT YOU CAN TRY IS TAKE THE CLUSTER OUT AND LOOK FOR ANY BLOWN RESISTOR OR METAL CARRIER.
IF IT WORKS AT NIGHT THE LIGHT SWITCH IS SENDING THE POWER TO THE UNIT. AT DAY TIME ANOTHER SOURCE IS SENDING POWER TO IT. SO THAT CHANNEL MAY BE BLOWN.

99 ford contour daytime running lights work, but high beams do not.

I live in Australia & I don't fully understand the term " daytime running lights " but high beam & low beam lights are on separate fuses as is the parking lights so you probably have a blown fuse, check all the fuses in the fuse box......hope this helps......cheers.

2002 Dodge Caravan headlamps: one works on dim the other works on high beam but not together. Also only one daytime running lamp.

Your van has dual diligent headlamp bulbs, that means each headlight has one bulb that serves as high beam and low beam. What has most likely happened is on one side the low beam filament has burnt out, and on the other side the high beam filiment has burnt out. The daytime running lights are just the high beam filament running on reduced power, so if the high beam doesn't work on one side, that same side will have no daytime running light. Replace both headlamp bulbs with matching, good quality bulbs.

My 1991 Caravan headlights won't turn off and the highbeam indicator light stays on. I've been told that the problem is likely the daytime running lights module. Where is this module located in the vehicle...

Sounds more like a stuck high beam relay. Daytime running lights module appeared sometime after '99 year. The relay should be in the fuse compartment. Pull it out to check that it is only the high beam that is on. Pull the low beam relay and place in the high beam location. If it turns on the high beams again, then try the dimmer switch to see if they go out. If that has no effect, then there is a sneak path somewhere that is turning the relay on.
