Fuse F6 in trunk compartment on my 2004 Chevy Malibu keeps blowing. This fuse provides power to the front and rear parklamps and also the backlight on the instrument panel cluster. The blowning fuse problem seems to have started when the instrument panel dimmer stopped working. COULD THIS PROBLEM BE RELATED TO A BAD DIMMER CONTROL? DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY CLUES TO THIS PROBLEM? THANKS

Yes it could definitely be related to a bad dimmer control. You have a partial short to ground somewhere in your dimmer control circuit. Pull the dimmer control and measure resistance to ground at the circuit connections.

One problem may be the orange bulb check. It's located next to the headlight relay on the driver side under the hood next to the fuse box. It's in a covered box too. The soldering gets tiny cracks from age/vibration. Needs to be replaced. Try ebay or your $aab dealer.

SOURCE: Tail lights don't work on 1998 Chevy Silverado.

check the wiring from the tailights back to the fuse panel, it sounds like an open connection. if i recall correctly check under the dash on the drivers side near the fuse panel for a bunch of wires in a bundle and look carefully for a wire or two that are cut/shorted/or seperated, you can also check under the drivers side kick panel by the hood release.

SOURCE: 1998 Chevy Malibu Fuse panel diagram

There is a interior fuse block (or fuse panel) on both sides of this vehicle AND one in the engine compartment.

I believe the fuse you're looking for is in the panel on the RIGHT side of the vehicle, marked " F - INT. LPS"

To gain access to this panel, simply remove the fuse panel door on the end of the dash.

There is a relay in the rear fuse block for the trunk release. marked trunk relay #36. It is marked on the under side of the lid. If you knew how they worked you could open it by jumping pin 30 to pin 87 in fuse box. on the side of the relay is a diagram of what pins are what . This system uses an electronic control module called ( the BCM ) body control module .When you push the inside release button , that sends a signal to the BCM ,then the BCM activates the relay opening the trunk . Well that won't help ,you won't believe where the fuse box is ! Fuse Block - Rear
In the rear compartment, behind the left wheel well. You could jump the wire at the BCM that goes to the relay. Can't you pull down one of the rear seats to gain access ?

Find fuse box for 2008 chevy malibu

Like most newer cars, your Malibu has two fuse boxes. One is under the hood, just outboard from the battery. [really lousy place to put electrical stuff, right next to a container full of acid. Be sure to keep the outside of your battery clean, or you will be buying a new fuse box/wiring harness in the future] The second fuse box is located in the trunk, just above the driver's side wheel well [left rear wheel well]

Trunk on my malibu keeps clicking to open with no one around or touching anything. what to do

Step 1:

The year of your Malibu should not matter.

Step 2:

Locate the electrical fuse panel inside the passenger compartment. It should be located behind a plastic panel (kick panel) to the left of the drivers feet or to the right of the front passengers feet.

Step 3:

If you have your cars factory Owners Manual, it can assist you in locating the fuse panel. Once you have located the fuse panel and have removed the plastic cover, read the sticker that is attached to the back of the fuse panel cover. It should show you which fuse is associated with the trunk lock or trunk latch.

Step 4:

If this fuse is found, remove the fuse and determine if the trunk latch has stopped clicking. If you can not find the responsible fuse, you can do the following-

Step 5:

You can pull one fuse at a time until you find the one for the trunk latch (remember, a fuse often is responsible for more than one circuit), or

Step 6:

You can locate the back side of the in-cabin trunk switch, disconnect the connector that attaches to the switch and see if that stops the involuntary activation of the switch. If it does stop, you can safely conclude that the switch that you push to open the trunk will need to be replaced.

Where is fuse in fuse box on chevy malibu 2004

There are 2 fuse panels in car, 1 under hood and the second under drivers side of dash, above hood release area. Radio fuse should be under dash, most likely a blue(15amp) fuse. The fuse panel glossery should be on inside cover of fuse panel or in owners manual under fuses in glossery.
