After an oil change the change oil light remains on

Trying to reset the change oil light, it remains on after the oil was changed. I have tried going to reset system and also pumping the reset button but nothing seems to work

  • Anonymous Apr 24, 2009

Nothing works now to reset the oil change warning. I have reset and reset and reset, and still every time I start it tells me that I am due for an oil change. I've managed to reset it previously, but this time it refuses to reset even after I follow the instructions.

How do I reset the computer after changing the oil myself ? The change oil light comes on for about 30 seconds before going out. The motor is a 4.9L. Thank you...

Depress and hold RANGE and FUEL USED buttons until OIL LIFE INDEX appears on DIC display. Depress and hold RANGE and RESET buttons for 5-60 seconds. When OIL CHANGE SOON light flashes 4 times remaining oil life index is reset to 100 percent. If OIL CHANGE SOON comes on and stays on for 5 seconds, display did not reset, and you will have to try again.

Change Oil Soon light won't go off even after changing the oil.

You are able to reset it. The directions are in your manual:

1. press the options button under the screen utnil ENGINE OIL MONITOR appears on the DIC screen

2. Press the set/reset button to reset the system

The next screen indicates that the engine oil monitor system has been reset.

If the message is still on...try steps again
