On a 2006 Hyundai Tucson?

What motor, 4 cylinder or V-6?

Both motors will require the removal of the timing belt in order to service the water pump. The 4 cylinder water pump is not driven by the water pump but the belt interferes with the pump removal. The V-6 is timing belt driven. Timing belts on both engines are fairly easy comparatively speaking however failure to properly reinstall the timing belt will result in catastrophic engine failure on the 4 cylinder model. If you do not have any experience with timing belts I would suggest not doing this repair yourself.

Watrpump replacment

the water pump is located on the side of the engine block where the cam belt is .its a straightforward job but again its a physically hard job as the cam belt and auxiliary belt need to be removed .and you will loose all your coolant .then the timing will need to be set up .when your car is due for a cam belt { its always worth replacing the water pump on any car }as its such a pain trying to change the pump again ..if you are thinking of doing this yourself ..I would think again ..it is beyond the scope of a DIY mechanic from the point of view you will nned a ramp and even if you a good home mechanic I doubt that you will have a 2 post ramp!
