Not sure which sensor that is. Code 717 is for a turbine input sensor which could be the torque converter or the turbine inside the transmission. Either one could be considered input.
You would need a shop manual to get the test procedures for that circuit.

You might need to replace your sensor. Also, replace your alternator belts before you change sensor. The drag on speed is caused by the "check engine" light getting on.
