I gave you guys the wrong cu in on my first request for answer about my Jeep iding too high after the motor warms up. I told you guy's it was a 260 or 268, but motor is a 258. I am sure you knew it was a 258 but I wanted to let you know that I had a memory problem hit me on my first email requesting your help. Thanks Much. Grampy55

You may have blown a relay or possibly a fusible link. You can test either with an ohmmeter or multi-tester. How are other components like lights and guages? If they are flashing and acting weird, then I would suggest voltage regulator

Even with a rebuilt carb you have to make the adjustments. Check the choke adjustment and set the fast idle. If choke is to tight it will be hard to start and take a long time to idle down. The fast idle sounds like it is high also.

that's OK grampy I'm 62 and sometimes things slip by unnoticed too first thing is crank the engine and while idling look under the hood for a loose vacuum hose If nothing is loose take a pair of needle nose pliers and pinch off hoses,(One at a time) when you pinch one and the engine slows down, follow it to the other end, either it's loose or whatever it powers is shot If it passes near the exhaust check if it's hard as a rock, that's a leak replace that hose hose is cheap, go to any parts house.9Take the old hose for size and length) Write back what you found please
