VSC light and check engene lights on/ lexus RX300 , 2002/
These lights come on for several reasons, but often in relation to air fuel mixture. First, if you recently filled the tank, go back and unscrew and re screw your gas cap until it ratchets . If you are low on fuel, fill the tank with premium and see if the light goes out over a day or so.. If it all goes out you are fortunate.
If you continue to see the light, have a dealer or qualified tech, scope the car and reset the lite In all likelyhood you will need one of 3 sensors.
For my money I would ask the dealer to reset and give you the info identifying if it is sensor 1 , 2 or 3 and point out where it sits.Then just buy the part and install. The sensors are like changing a spark plug. They are visible but EXPENSIVE.
The other possibility is you might have a dirty throttle valve needing some carb spray inside where the snorkle hose attaches from the air cleaner to the throttle itself.
Again the dealer should identify the cause unless you have tester for the ECU.You dont want to replace the wrong sensors because a friend said that was THE one he did.
Mine was the front, right near the rad, but I know the mechanic and he is a friend who showed me the readouts and the test procedure while he worked.
I had previously cleaned my throttle valve and still had to replace to sensor 3 weeks later, but my fuel economy spiked when it was done.
This valve recirculates engine vacuum and fumes and is probably clogged with carbon or fuel deposits. It wil most likely need to be replaced if the car is running poorley or is getting bad mileage.

The VSC warning light, Trac Off and check engine is probably an easy fix. If you look under the air filter/cleaner box there is probably a rubber hose that has been disconnected from a steel line. This is common if you have had the oil changed recently, the tech will check the ail filter and doesn't realize the hose has been disconnected.

If you had the oil changed recently by a shop they usually check the air filter. When the shop removed the air filter it is likely they pulled loose a small hose on the back of the air filter box. Reattach this hose and disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes. That will reset the codes and you should solve the problem.

VSC means Vehicle Stability Control.
It comes on when the sensor send a signal that the vehicle is not stable on the ground.....check the wheel balancing and alignment and the air pressure of your tires too.

You could have a bad coil pack or a bad fuel injector. swap out the coil packs from the misfiring cylinders and put them in the cylinders that are known to be firing correctly to narrow it down to determine if it is the coil pack first. When is the last time you changed the spark plugs? Pull them out of the misfiring cylinders to check the condition of the plugs.

some vehicles will show a trouble code after the battery is disconnected which turns on the check engine light, the code basically tells you that the battery has been disconnect in the last X start cycles, X being the number of start cycles the manufacturer decides on. what I would do is take it to an auto store and have them read and reset the codes, tell them you have done some work and need to see if you fixed the problem
