My car jump time

My 1999 plymouth breeze 2.0L SOHC jump timming and now my car wont start so how do you time it

  • Anonymous May 13, 2009

I had a mechanic replace the timing belt but the mechanic did not replace the water pump. it went out two weeks later. In the process it took the timing belt back out and bent some valves. I paid 400.00 for the first timing belt replacement, Now they want 700.00 to repair it. Is this a good deal? Or am I getting bent over on this???

#1 are you sure it jumped time?#2 how do you know this? if in fact it has jumped time you will need to have the timing belt replaced.the average interval for replacement is 60,000-80,000.it is also a good idea to replace the water pump at the same time as it is driven by the timing belt.

My 1999 Plymouth breeze wont start

Fuel, spark, air is the fire triangle... You're unfortunately missing one of those... Try simply waiting for a long time an hour or so and jump starting the car if necessary.... my guess is that you may have flooded the engine with repeated failed attempts to start the engine. That means there is too much gas and the plugs can't spark because they're too wet with fuel...

On my 1999 plymouth breeze 2.0 sohc. it cranks but wont start. Relays , fuses are good. But i dont hear the fuel pump

First key on you should hear pump run a couple seconds if you think it's the pump have someone crank it over and another pound on the fuel tank this sometimes makes the pump motor start to run, if it does that may be enough for you to drive to a shop for a new fuel pump.

Reset timingbelt on 1999 plymouth breeze sohc 2.0

When you break a timing belt, you get a kit with a new
water pump,pulley's,tensioners & belt

Also you get an instruction manual to follow for
the timing of the cams & such

If you only bought a belt, you should also have instructions

Nothing-- then you go to the internet & find a picture & also
can watch You Tube Video

If the belt broke-- what about bent valves,BEFORE,before
you address the belt replacement

Good time to do a cylinder leak down test

How much should a dealership charge to replace timing belt and water pump on 1999 Plymouth Breeze 2.0?

it depends what their door rate is to do the job and they can charge what they can as far as parts are concerned.you don`t say if its a dohc or a sohc(dual or single cam motor).roughly it would take about 3.5-5 hours to change the timing belt and about .4-.7 to change the water pump.call around and compare prices as this doesn`t have to be done at a dealer.
