Pajero 6G74, does it need timing belt with 259 teeth or 265 teeth?

Hi!

The Mitsubishi Pajero with the 6G74 engine has different timing belt configurations depending on the year and model. According to the manufacturer's specifications, the 6G74 engine typically uses a timing belt with 259 teeth, but some models may use a timing belt with 265 teeth.
To determine the correct timing belt for your Pajero 6G74 engine, you need to check the owner's manual or service manual for the exact model and year of your vehicle. Alternatively, you can contact a Mitsubishi dealership or a qualified mechanic for assistance in determining the correct timing belt size.

If the belt that came off your engine has 259 teeth and the new belt in the kit has 265 teeth, it's possible that the incorrect belt was fitted. However, it's also possible that the previous owner or mechanic installed an aftermarket timing belt that doesn't match the manufacturer's specifications.
To verify that the correct timing belt has been installed, you can count the number of teeth on the old belt and compare it with the specifications in the owner's or service manual. You can also check for any markings or part numbers on the old belt to ensure that it matches the recommended part for your engine.

If you're unsure about the timing belt on your Pajero 6G74 engine, it's recommended to have it inspected by a qualified mechanic to ensure that it's the correct size and in good condition. A faulty or improperly installed timing belt can cause serious engine damage and should be addressed immediately.

Hope this will help you!

Kind regards

Does a mitsubishi pajero sport 2,5 diesel, 2014 model have timing belt or chain.

If it looks like the photo it has a timing belt fitted. The marked area is the cover for the top section of the belt.

Timing marks for 3.4 v6 1995 olds cutlass supreme

It doesn't have any marks. Make your own before you remove the belt. If the belt was broke or you already removed the belt then you will have to remove the valve covers and install specialty tools into the ends of the camshafts to line everything up correctly.

Timing marks on crank 99 passat

Do you have a 1.8T or the V6?

On the 1.8T, there is not timing mark on the crank. The mark is on the harmonic balancer. The corresponding mark is on the plastic cover for the timing belt, so to get TDC, you must first install the lower timing belt cover and then install the harmonic balancer.

Looking at the manual for the V6, it appears that it is the same. The marks are on the timing belt cover and harmonic balancer.
