My 2002 toyota solar with the V6 3000 24 cam engine wont start. Makes a loud clicking noise similar to a newly dead battery. Battery is showing fine amps/charge, replaced starter today thinking starter was bad because starting was getting weak leading up to the failure. With new starter clicking is louder but vehicle still does not start.

Battery cables to the starter. and did they replace the starter colenoid?

SOURCE: My 2002 won,t start. Can hear a click sound.

check the battery under load at a local parts store. Sounds like a dead cell. Also check the cable connections to the battery for corrosion. The starter could be bad but That would be a last check unless it has been dragging. If the battery and connections are ok the starter solenoid would be the culprit. Sometimes you can free them with a light tap with a wrench or LIGHT tacking hammer. It will still need to be replaced, though. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: New battery but still acts dead - Does computer need to be reset?

do not suspect computer.
1 the new battery may not have been charged from the store so would need to be charged before use, charge new battery on a charging set and see if this resoves the problem. *or use slave leads and start from a second vehicle)
2 your alternator may not be charging the battery so after a while it will just die. use a volt meter and check that volage is increaseing to your battery when the engine is running.
if not suspect alterantor defective and may need replacement.

Before you go changing out the starter check for a burnt out fusible link going to the starter it will look like a wire but acts as a fuse and they burn in two just like a fuse. The symptoms you just describe are those of a burnt fusible link.

SOURCE: 1998 Toyota Camry --- car intermittenly won't

When the bushes in a starter get worn, it can cause the armature to rub on the magnetic poles (poleing) This can cause the starter turn slow or not at all
The sintered metal bushes are like bearings. Not to be confused with carbon brushes which are the electrical connectors.
When a starter clicks, it is the solenoid you can hear.supplying power through the brushes.

A starter that is poleing, often stops in a place where it isnt rubbing, and works fine the next start.
There can be other problems with a starter , perhaps one of the brushes is sticking, or the solenoid.
When it happens a tap with a hammer on the starter or solenoid, while a friend turns the key, is enough to get it working( this isnt a fix but might get you started in an emergency)

There is also the possibility of a loose or dirty cable connection, from when the new battery was installed

Everything lights up on dash but van won't crank, it just makes a click noise...like it has a flat battery, but the battery is new. Vehicle is a Nissan elgrand highway star 2005.

Possible it could be your starter solenoid. They click when they do not work.Sounds like starter problem if you are sure your battery is fully charged.

My 2006 chevy trailblazer 2wd 6cyl wont start. makes clicking noise, then nothing lights/radio etc work but wont start what is it

You got a jump and it ran fine? It's your battery. The lights and radio are much easier for a battery to handle than spinning a car engine. Again, if all you needed was a jump, you have a bad battery.

Will not start, was running fine no sign of any issue and than stopped parked 15min engine off and than returned with no battery. My keys made a different noise and the car ignition makes a strange...

Have the battery checked out, it can drain within minutes and it really is gone if you have dead cells that can't recharge. It will make your car click when trying to start or it could turn over slow or not make any sound. Good Luck.

MY 2002 4runner won't start. It makes a clicking

I am working on my mother-in-law's 2002 4Runner right now. The problem is a common one for Toyota starters and is likely due to worn contacts in the starter itself. When you engage the starter by turning the key, the worn contacts are preventing enough current from getting to the starter bendix (this is the rod that engages the flywheel and makes the engine turn over. you can hear the starter spinning, but the gear on the starter bendix is not engaged with the flywheel. If you can remove the starter, it is likely you can buy new contacts from Toyota, or your local parts store. Or you can buy a new/refurbished starter from your parts store for less than $200 and you will get money back for giving them your old starter. The tricky part is getting the starter out, which is what I am working on right now.

When my husband car is not hooked up to another battery it will not start at all nor does it makes noise. But when it is connected to another car it will somewhat start but it makes a loud clicking sound...

Could be the starter but first I would recommend having the battery checked. Sounds as though the battery may have a dead or shorted cell and causing this problem.
