94 Chrysler Concord all Shift indicator lights on in Park

94 Chrysler Concord all shift indicator lights "PRND3L" light up in Park. When shifted into Reverse just the R is lit. When shifted into Neutral all the lights PRND3L light up. When shifted to Drive just the D lights up. When shifted to 3 or L the "D" stays lit. The tranmission seems to shift a little hard but not too bad. A coupl weeks ago it did slip into a low gear untill I came to a stop light put it into park and back into drive and then it worked ok. Transmission fluid level is fine and dark red in color no burnt smell.

If your van has alot of miles, then just ignore it. Get a sevice done on it and let it warm up a bit and see if that helps the problem. When the miles get put on, especially with little maintaince, they have a hard time engaging "cold turkey". Another factor is that going from Rev to Drive(1st) you are going from energizing one accumulator to energizing two, and you're switching from the Rev clutch to the Underdrive clutch which tends to bleed off pressure the most.

SOURCE: My '94 Grand Cherokee Limited has no power in reverse.

It sounds like the reverse band is out of adjustment. Three things can cause this, reverse band, front clutch and the overdrive direct clutch. To test the band, drive the truck in manual low up to 25 mph. Then let off, if the transmission doesn't pull the engine down, the band needs adjusted. If the front clutch is the problem, 3rd gear will be act weird too. The only test I know of for the overdrive direct is to inspect it, so process of elimination will have to work. Hopefully the problem is the band, because you can pull the pan, service the trans, adjust the band, and be done. Any of the other problems and you are looking at a rebuild. Good luck.

it sounds like your gearshift cable is broken..if you can jack up vehicle and support it safely,get someone to move shifter and look on driver's side of transmission and see if linkage is moving on trans..linkage is up near top of trans..i have seen this problem before

the bands need adjustment and probabley a filter .not ajob you can do at home.but any auto trans mission place wii do it in a short time

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

94 toyota is over 3000 rpm at 40 mph

It can be the issue with Transmission or problem with gear shift assembly.The system has to be inspected and tested.----------

I have the same problemj the PRND will not light up, I just got the car yesterdady...

I love the car , but how am i supposed to go from reverse to drive with no lights...has anybody told you how to fix this problem?

Shift indicator light on console no working - 94 Buick Regal.

light bulb burn out is what i can think of its common as long as no other problems have rissen up in this matter
