Check for vacuum leaks n (broken or leaking hoses; gaskets), bad EGR valve (plugged or stuck open) or raw gas running into the intake manifold (leaking fuel injector(s) or bad carb).

If you can get the car to Orielly's or Autozone they will check the OBD1 system for free to help you fix the problem.
This sounds like the fuel is not burning in the combustion chamber due to a lack of spark, excess fuel and smoke. On vehicles with a coil pack for every cylinder you would replace the coil pack but on your vehicle you have two coil packs, one for each side. If a coil pack is bad this would cause your problem (left or right). The auto parts people should be able to help you further, but I think this is the problem. (I had a similar problem).
IF YOU GOT CYLINDER MISFIRE.OR OPEN FUEL INJECTOR.THAT WILL CAUSE THE PCM TO ENRICHEN FUEL MIXTURE.TO ADJUST TO DEAD CYLINDER.WHICH ACT AS A LARGE VACUUM LEAK.THATS WHY YOUR EXHAUST TAIL PIPES HAS A RAW FUEL SMELL AND WHITE SMOKES.
Don't drive it !!!! Don't START IT !! Have it towed to dealer or garage & have fuel system checked. Raw fuel is getting dumped into engine & could cause big problems, as well as a fire, or explosion.
DON'T START IT ,OR DRIVE IT !! Have it towed to shop & have fuel system checked. Fire or worse could happen. If it's raw gas, just a spark from trying to start it could be all it takes.
If the cat was doing anything, it would smell like rotten eggs.
If you have raw gas smell, use caution; you have a leak somewhere in your fuel delivery and you could see flames eventually.
